Rightwing extremism in the United States can be broadly divided into those groups, movements, and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups), and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration. Or gun control???  Or higher taxes???  Or parole for pedophiles???

From Michelle: I spent the day chasing down DHS spokespeople…One of the spokespeople said he was told that the report has been in the works for a year. My b.s. detector went off the chart…

So, now you are a rightwing extremist if you espouse the very views held by the same men who wrote the U.S. Constitution – namely federalism, and believing that: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.*

*That’s the 10th Amendment to the United States Constitution in case you had to be reminded, fedgov.

And by the way, it’s interesting how they have used the word “authority” in this report.  In the U.S. Constitution the word “authority” appears a total of 8 times, and more often than not refers to the authority of the states.  The word “power” appears 36 times, and almost overwhelmingly refers to LIMITS on powers delegated to the federal government.  And if you think I am picking nits, look up those  two words in the dictionary.
