I agree with Kerry that stupid voters pay more attention to simple slogans that facts. I don’t think, however, that that’s why Democrats have it tough this election year. I even have a simple slogan to explain why: It’s the economy, stupid! When you take office during a recession, you better fix it or expect to pay the piper next election cycle. It’s that simple. Sometimes even stupid voters are right.

True. The Democrats problem this year is that too many people were paying attention. The Republicans would have the same problem had they been in power, making empty promises, and pushing highly unpopular laws (bailouts, “stimulus,” obamacare, cap and trade, more bailouts, etc.). I agree totally with the “throw the bums out sentiment,” but I have my suspicions that the new bums won’t be any better than the old bums in the long run. The temptations of power are too great and human nature all to venal and self-serving and both parties support a failed monetary system that lies at the heart of the boom/bust cycle.
