100 years ago on this day, March 29th, 1911; the United States Army officially adopted the John Moses Browning (PBUH) self loading pistol design of 1910, manufactured by Colt’s firearms (with changes and specifications as amended by the Army ordnance board); as the Automatic Pistol, Caliber .45, model of 1911.

The 1911 Pistol Is Its Own Toolbox!
“It’s pretty well agreed that one of the top firearms inventors of the 20th Century was John Moses Browning. One of his finest creations was the U.S. Pistol, Model of 1911…
Less generally known is that Browning designed many parts of the 1911 pistol to be used as tools in its own disassembly and assembly. Even the .45 ACP cartridge itself could be used for work on the gun!”
Cool stuff. I knew some of these tricks, but not all. Go RTWT.

Something they were selling at Knob Creek: brand new Anzio Ironworks 20mm bolt action rifles. For those days when a wimpy little .50 BMG won’t cut the mustard…
But that’s not the quote of the day. This, from Tam in her own comments section is:
“There are things which I have no need to buy that make me happy by their very existence… ”
CLEVELAND — Beginning Monday (Sept. 20), Cleveland residents who want to register their handguns can do so 24 hours a day, seven days a week…
Applicants will need to bring photo identification, specifically a government issued drivers license, passport, Ohio identification card, or military identification.
All applicants should bring all handguns unloaded and securely wrapped to the police district of their choice.
Anyone stupid enough to voluntarily register their guns, in a state where it is not required, is too stupid to own them in the first place.
"A system of licensing and registration is the perfect device to deny gun ownership to the bourgeoisie."
"Cause the registration of all firearms on some pretext, with the view of confiscating them and leaving the population defenseless." – Vladimir Ilich Lenin
