This editorial reminds me of times when I say things to my kids like “Don’t jump on the bed!” and then later I catch them jumping on a bed in another room.  They reply with “Oh!  We thought you only meant that other bed…”

Obama administration caught “loading their guns” for a new round of anti-gun legislation

For a decade, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has been forbidden by Congress from doing research on gun-control issues. Such piddling hurdles as federal law don’t matter to the Obama administration.

With a wave of a hand, the CDC has simply redefined gun-control research so the ban no longer applies.

…The CDC’s brazen end run around restrictions on gun-control research is hardly surprising given that when President Obama served on the board of the Joyce Foundation, it was the largest private funder of gun-ban research in the country. Now he has the resources of the whole federal government.

“Gun-related violence is a public health problem – it diverts considerable health care resources away from other problems and, therefore, is of interest to NIH,” wrote the agency spokesman in an e-mail responding to questions from Republican members of Congress about new grants the CDC is giving out. The statement assumes the conclusion of the research before the first study is done.

Anybody see an end-run around the second amendment coming – once Barry gets his Universal Healthcare passed?  Maybe like “If you are insured by the gubmint, you cannot own a gun!”

Never happen?  Read that little bit in bold again: “Gun-related violence is a public health problem…”

The government would never use it’s growing power over the healthcare industry and healthcare insurance to push an ideological agenda would it?  It’s not like they have ever used the tax code for social engineering purposes right?  Oh, bad example.

How about smoking bans in private businesses because – (ready for it???) – the .gov is concerned about your health.

How about the San Francisco city gummint (unconstitutionally) banning  guns in public housing?

Or New York City banning trans fats – it’s about your health.

Or Toledo and Clyde Ohio banning guns in public parks (in direct violation of the state preemption law) out of concern for the health of the cheeeeeldrinnnn!  Same with Seattle.  And Knoxville.

Yeah, I know those aren’t exact parallels because mostly they concern city and state governments and different issues.  That is not the point of this rant.  The point is that you can look to many examples of people within a government hierarchy that will use their position to try to enforce their social ideologies.  The enforcement hammer will be healthcare insurance/access.

They went after smoking and they are winning that one.  Booze and guns will be next.   Man, what’ll there be left to do?

I saw the premiere of “V” the other night, and I thought the same thing this video shows…Heh.
