Where to start with this article (thanks to Say Uncle)???
From Cleveland.com:
A bill introduced in the Ohio legislature would require parents to donate at least 13 hours of time to their school district each year or pay the price.
WTF?!?!?! “Require..to donate?” Those words are at opposite ends of the Spectrum of Liberty . Are our elected representatives really this stupid, or have we just gotten to the point where the majority of the populace just wants government to tell them exactly what to do, when to do it and for how long?
House Bill 519 was introduced by Rep. Sandra Williams, a Cleveland Democrat (NO SHIT!!?!?!?), and co-sponsored by six other lawmakers including Rep. Stephen Dyer, a Democrat (NO SHIT!!?!?!?) from Green, and Rep. Barbara Boyd, a Cleveland Heights Democrat (NO SHIT!!?!?!?). Does anyone else see the irony in a black woman telling people they will be required, under the threats of law and force, to perform unpaid, dictated labor?
Thousands of parents could face a choice: volunteer at your child’s school or pay a $100 fine.
STG, you cannot make up this shit! Pay a $100 fine for not “donating” the state-mandated 13 hours of your life that this congress-leach has determined that you need to give up. Does that count Mom and Dad? Now we need to find 26 hours of time. Does that mean per child? Because with three kids, now we would need 78 hours of time. Last time I checked, school was in session during my business hours, so I would need to take 39 hours a year (one week!) of vacation time to satisfy this requirement. So would my wife.
And, if parents failed to pay up, the fine could be deducted from their state income tax refunds.
Well isn’t that special. Another form of wealth re-distribution. There’s nothing to deduct it from assholes! I haven’t seen a state income tax refund in I don’t know how long. Somehow, no matter how I re-jigger my withholdings, before I sign my return you guys always direct me to the box on line 267 of page 35 of the form that starts with the words “Amount You Owe”
School districts would report parents who didn’t volunteer to the Ohio Department of Education.
Oh, please, please don’t put it in my Permanent Record Book! And, do you really want parents - in a classroom with your child - who are pissed off at the system for dragging them in there in the first place?
And isn’t it also ironic that this bill “grants state employees paid leave to participate in a child’s educational activities,” while at the same time our Democratic Governor has suspended the “Ohio Reads” program, and has mandated that no charitable activities can be conducted by State employees on State time.
Man, they sure like to mandate, don’t they?
