Media Bias? What Media Bias?

August 31, 2008

Just got this from a Navy vet buddy of mine…Pictures of one of the largest re-enlistment ceremonies ever.  The ceremony was held July 4, 2008 at Al Faw Palace, Baghdad , Iraq . General Petraeus officiated.

Did you hear about this in the Mainstream Media?

Me Neither…Guess it doesn’t fit with their message of doom and gloom…

The Least Worst Choice He Could Have Made

August 29, 2008

History has been made.  We will either have a first black president or a first woman vice president.  McCain’s VP pick is Sarah Palin, Alaska’s Governor…Maybe they’ll pick up some disgruntled womyn-hillary-voters.

Not that I give a shit though…

We’ll just have to add Palin’s name to this

All This And a Toaster Too!

August 29, 2008

I started out to fisk the transcript of Barack HUSSEIN Obama’s acceptance speech from last night’s convention, but after getting a few paragraphs into it, I decided to go the short course instead.  So in case you didn’t watch the DNC love-fest last night, here in a condensed version is what Barack HUSSEIN Obama promised (either explicitly or implicitly) to his acolytes:

  • More affordable College Tuition
  • Universal health care
  • Create more jobs/keep jobs in America
  • More veterans benefits
  • Paid sick leave
  • “Better” family leave (Better than what?)
  • Better “pension protection” from CEOs (How many people besides government employees do you know who still have pensions?)
  • Equal pay for an equal day’s work (whatever that is)
  • Prevent another Katrina (now he is God – can control the weather)
  • Cut taxes for 95% (!) of all working families (which is, apparently, – in his own words –  his definition of the “middle class”)
  • End dependence on Mideast oil in 10 (!) years. WTF is he smoking?!?!?!?!
  • Invest in: Drilling, natural gas production, clean coal, Detroit automakers’ retooling, MORE education, and in particular, invest $150 BILLION in wind energy, renewable energy and bio-fuels over the next 10 years.

And here is the money quote about McCain that shows the huge, gaping chasm between people who believe in the free-market, liberty-fueled capitalist model of society, and socialists like Barack HUSSEIN Obama:

For over two decades, (McCain’s) subscribed to that old, discredited Republican philosophy, give more and more to those with the most and hope that prosperity trickles down to everyone else. In Washington, they call this the Ownership Society, but what it really means is, you’re on your own. Out of work? Tough luck. No health care? The market will fix it. Born into poverty? Pull yourself up by your own bootstraps, even if you don’t have boots. You’re on your own.”

OK:  This one paragraph I will fisk:

For over two decades, (McCain’s) subscribed to that old, discredited Republican philosophy, give more and more to those with the most and hope that prosperity trickles down to everyone else. (No, it isn’t given to them and they aren’t “lucky.”  The vast majority of “the ones with the most” earned it through ingenuity, risk-taking, hard work and sacrifice – and they are the business owners, large and small, that employ the bulk of Americans – asshole).

In Washington, they call this the Ownership Society (Exactly!  As in private property ownership – the cornerstone of all rights-based and law-based societies and the antithesis of what you believe in and propose),

but what it really means is, you’re on your own. Out of work? Tough luck. (Yeah, get a job.  I’ve been out of work (recently).  Guess what?  I found another job…Shovel shit if you have to until something better comes along, work two shifts at McDonalds to pay the bills, spend your days looking for work, but don’t sit on your ass waiting for the government {read: taxpayers} to bail your ass out with food stamps, welfare and government housing).

No health care? The market will fix it. (The freakin’ “market” that you deride, you communist, is what ensured that entrepreneurial people could build this country into what it is – one of the most educated, healthiest, richest, most generous, world-leading societies ever!  In just over 200 years!).

Born into poverty? Pull yourself up by your own bootstraps, even if you don’t have boots. (Yeah – my father did it; he was, literally, fatherless AND shoeless at age 10 and became a successful businessman and a model citizen – so don’t tell me it can’t be done).

You’re on your own. (No, you are not.  That’s what family, friends, your church, and your neighbors are for.  What the hell do you think people who were down on their luck did in this country before your deity, FDR, created welfare and social security?  They turned to, and helped, each other).

Now go back and read that (partial) list up there of the things that Barack HUSSEIN Obama is promising in his new Utopia.

Then compare all of that to what THIS authorizes him to do.

And never the twain shall meet.

And the sad thing is.  McCain is promising the exact same shit sandwich – in a different wrapper.

Update:  Nicki posts on it too…

Got this in an e-mail, checked it out on Snopes and it is, apparently, true…

A city councilman in Utah , Mark Easton, had a beautiful view of the east mountains, until a new neighbor purchased the lot below his house and built a new home. The new home was 18 inches higher than the ordinances would allow, so Mark Easton, mad about his lost view, went to the city to make sure they enforced the lower roof line ordinance. The new neighbor had to drop the roof line, at great expense.

Recently, Mark Easton called the city, and informed them that his new neighbor had installed some vents on the side of his home. Mark didn’t like the look of these vents and asked the city to investigate. When they went to Mark’s home to see the vent view, this is what they found…

Man, that is EXACTLY something I would do…It’s just how I roll.

Quote of The Day

August 28, 2008

From Hazel Stone at The Line is Here:

On the Dems and Repubs alike…

“The more I think about it…which seriously causes the acid stomach, let me tell you…the more I believe the reason we haven’t lined you all up against the nearest wall is the price is just too high, and we’re too comfortable.  It won’t be that way forever, boys.”

From the NRA-ILA: Morton Grove Drops Ban on Private Possession of Handguns

Today, the Village of Morton Grove agreed to a stipulated dismissal of a National Rifle Association lawsuit challenging the village’s gun ban. A new town ordinance recognizes the right to private handgun ownership, bringing an end to NRA’s lawsuit against the village. Morton Grove completely dismissed its ordinance banning handguns and agreed to not replace it with any direct regulation other than to adopt existing state laws.

Lessons Learned

August 28, 2008

From Kevin at The Smallest Minority:

According to Outdoor Life:

We just got a call from Devline Rossell, a charter captain based out of Venice Louisiana. He was shopping in New Orleans to get some supplies before the arrival of Gustav (currently listed as a tropical storm that has left at least 22 dead in the Caribbean) and reported that the item most in demand was not food, clothing or shelter.

“I just left a sporting goods store and you would think that the number-one selling item would be plywood or potable water or gasoline right now,” he said. “Apparently it is AR-15s and .223 ammo. I watched at least 20 people buy AR-15s and cases of .223.”

I drove a truck full of relief supplies down to “Nawlins” less than a week after Katrina hit.  Ended up sleeping in an empty doctor’s office overnight.  I’ll tell you one thing – I was sure glad I had my .45 and a shotgun with me.

Looks like some people learned a lesson from Katrina.  We’ll see if Ray Nagin and his goons learned their lesson.

Yup, That About Sums It Up…

I wonder why we weren’t being racist when Ken Blackwell lost the Ohio Gubernatorial election?  Oh, that’s right…because he is a Republican.  Now I get it.

Hopey-Changey in Denver

August 27, 2008

Apparently there is some kind of meeting or seminar or something going on in downtown Denver this week.

I know this because as I was flipping channels last night there were a minimum of 8 channels carrying something titled “DNC XXIX Live From Denver.”  And as I passed by those channels I noticed a lot of people milling about in a big room, talking and holding signs.  8 channels.  I wonder if they’ll give that much coverage to the Republicans?

And apparently those wacky Clintons just cannot get it through their heads that they are not the anointed ones.  Who could’ve guessed that?

If I were Barack HUSSEIN Obama, I would want eyes in the back of my head right about now

Ya’ll let me know how it turns out will ya?
