Road Trip

October 29, 2008

Goin’ Pig-whackin’ tomorrow.  Middle Tennessee hills.  Drive down tomorrow, hunt Friday and Saturday, drive home Sunday.  There will be some beer and Jim Beam and cigars mixed in there somewhere.

I will be out of touch until Monday, but I will bring some good pictures back.

And in case any of you are wondering if wild boar is good eatin’…Just remember it has no red dye #9, no steroids, no antibiotics.  It’s better than what you can buy in the store.

And since we will be in the Tennessee hills, we will all carry the international sign of distress…

The Box O’ Truth

October 27, 2008

Maybe only geeks who like guns would appreciate this web site, but this guy has some cool, if unscientific, ballistic analyses.  Besides, its just cool to see shit blow up when you shoot it.

He has some good gun reviews, including one on the S&W .44 Magnum here.

One of which I will be using next week to whack a few wild boar…

Mmmmm….Ribs ‘n Sausage, ‘n Hams, Oh My!

October 27, 1775:

The U.S. Navy is formed (although the actual resolution was adopted by Congress on October 13th).

USS Constitution vs Guerriere.jpg

Damn!  They beat the Marines by 2 weeks.  Oh, well, I guess they had to be formed first so they could have the ships to take us to “every clime and place where we could take a gun.”

Plus, they were born in a meeting of Congress.  We were born in a Bar!  (Where else would you expect the U.S. Marines to be born)?

Tolerance? What Tolerance?

October 27, 2008

So what happened to all that tolerance and inclusion and diversity the left always screeches about?  Oh…I forgot, it only counts if it is their definition of inclusion and tolerance…

From Hillbuz:  Obama followers vandalize homes in Gainesville.

“Twenty-five residents of a Gainesville neighborhood woke up this morning to discover their homes had been spray-painted with an obscene comment about the 2008 presidential race. Several businesses were hit as well.

“This is clear voter intimidation,” Corey A. Stewart, At-Large Chairman of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, said. “The residents targeted by these hoodlums all had McCain for President yard signs in their front yards.”

And I love the way the guy turns the whole “hate crime” thing back on them…

And, yes, I would be just as outraged if this happened to a bunch of houses that had Obama signs in front of them.  This whole process has devolved into a gutless conflict of criminal acts like this and petty bullshit arguments for (and against) all candidates.

Back to the Future?

October 24, 2008

From NRO:

A newcomer to national politics, he claimed to transcend partisan labels. He moved to the center during the campaign, at a time when the Democrats held large congressional majorities. In a troubled economy, he told voters he would keep taxes down for most Americans, limit spending, and balance the budget, all while implementing ambitious social programs. He planned to cut military spending to free money for other purposes, but assured moderates and conservatives that when it came to America’s enemies, he would be tougher than the Republicans. The media, droves of moderates, and some conservatives believed him, having pegged him as a man of character.

His name was Jimmy Carter, the year was 1976, and he won.
