I found this at Mike The Marine’s place.
I, like him, do not normally go in for online petitions, but in this case I made an exception. You should too.
Congressman John P. Murtha, Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, was presented this week with the Department of the Navy’s Distinguished Public Service Award. The award, granted by the Secretary of the Navy, is the highest form of public service recognition bestowed by the Department of the Navy for a non-employee. It consists of a gold medal, miniature medal, lapel bar, rosette, and a certificate signed by the Secretary.
According to the Department, “nominations for this award will be limited to those extraordinary cases where individuals have demonstrated exceptionally outstanding service of substantial and long term benefit to the Navy, Marine Corps, or as Department of the Navy as a whole.” Murtha was presented with the award in appreciation of his distinguished public service to the Department of the Navy.
And to quote Mike:
“The man willingly sold fellow Marines down the river with no regard for facts or due process. That he was given an award for “selfless devotion to the Nation’s Sailors and Marines” is unconscionable. He has broken the faith and is worthy by any measure of the title “EX-Marine” and all that entails.”
My signature, asking the Secretary of The Navy not to honor this piece of shit, was #29,170. You can find the petition here.
