Pilot’s Post # 1,967

Got this from a co-worker who knows I fly.  Don’t know if it is true or not, but it is an interesting story, and someone had the pictures to back it up!!!

During a private "fly-in" fishing excursion in the Alaskan wilderness, the chartered pilot and fishermen left a cooler and bait in the plane. And a bear smelled it. This is what he did to the plane.

The pilot used his radio and had another pilot bring him 2 new tires, 3 cases of duct tape, and a supply of sheet plastic. He patched the plane together, and FLEW IT HOME!

Plane shouldn’t be able to fly to fast that if the tape was done well it couldn’t hold it all together. I however would have walked out.

Pilot is damned lucky the bear didn’t take the gun from the case on the side of the plane and wait for him to return! 🙂

Before I moved to the Lower 48 last fall, he had the PO box kitty-cornered to mine. He didn’t leave food in his plane – smarter guy than that.
