Do as I say, not as I…Whatever

Rights, rights…

Those pesky rights – they just won’t go away – kind of like some aging politicians.

Remember this quote from Bill Clinton?

“We can’t be so fixated on our desire to preserve the rights of ordinary Americans…”

Did you happen to read/hear about this over the weekend?

Former President Clinton on Sunday broadened his warning that Tea Party protesters could feed violence reminiscent of the Oklahoma City bombing, suggesting "right-wing media" and the blogosphere could be culpable for any future politically fueled extremism as well.  Emphasis mine.

First off, “right-wing media” – that just cracks me the hell up…

And second – Ummm, The Oklahoma City Bombing?  Really?  Maybe Billy Jeff forgot that Timothy McVeigh was motivated and upset by the Federal Government invasion of the Branch Davidian compound in Waco. And that Clinton’s own Attorney General, Janet Reno, was the one who ordered tanks to be used against American citizens. McVeigh was not inspired by rhetoric. He was angered by actions taken by the Clinton administration.

I mean, in just that one quote, Bill shits on on just about every right enumerated in the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution…freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom to peaceably assemble, and the right to petition government for a redress of grievances.  The only one he didn’t hit was the free exercise of religion.

So we should just shut our pie-holes and not question authority Bill?  How do you square that with this?

Because as we all know, no liberal or democrat or non-conservative would ever!!!!111eleventy!! exercise their god-given rights to protest a conservative president’s policiesRight, Bill? At least not peacefully.

I don’t care if you’re purple with pink polka-dots and you want to protest the treatment of immigrant, North-Andalusian, bald, obese, gay, middle-aged crack addicts named Joe…No president or government official (current or former) should even be expressing an opinion on you doing so.

If you made your living at the public trough, you have just a little bit of a conflict of interest in this area.

I think his name would be Jose, not “Joe.” At least until OBL manages to undo what El Cid accomplished and retakes Andalusia…after that, well, his name wouldn’t matter since he’d lose his head.
