Quote of The Day

“You need only reflect that one of the best ways to get yourself a reputation as a dangerous citizen these days is to go about repeating the very phrases which our founding fathers used in their struggle for independence.” – C.A. Beard

It’s Memorial Day

May 28, 2012

When people tell me “Happy Memorial Day,” I have to keep myself from reminding them that it’s not supposed to be a “happy” day, it’s supposed to be a day of remembrance and thanks, and MEMORIALS.  But then I also remember this quote:

"It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived." – General George S. Patton, Jr.

Can’t say it better than that.

Happy 1911 Day!

March 29, 2011

Movin’ to Utah

January 27, 2011

Always had a spot in my heart for Texas – no shit-takers in their history.  That and my family lives there.  But, I am re-thinking my retirement plans.  Any state that [a] picks a “State Gun,” and [b] picks the John Moses Browning (PBUH) – designed 1911 to be their state gun – they get my vote…

Utah lawmakers propose M1911 as Official State Gun.

State lawmakers are debating whether to designate a semiautomatic pistol as the official gun of Utah ….The bill to make the Browning M1911 the official gun breezed through a committee hearing this week and is scheduled to be debated by the full House as early as Wednesday.

[T]he state should have the gun as one of its state symbols to honor John [Moses] Browning, a Utah native who invented it in 1911.

How cool is that?
