When people tell me “Happy Memorial Day,” I have to keep myself from reminding them that it’s not supposed to be a “happy” day, it’s supposed to be a day of remembrance and thanks, and MEMORIALS.  But then I also remember this quote:

"It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived." – General George S. Patton, Jr.

Can’t say it better than that.

Merry Christmas…

December 24, 2010

To all of the people wearing the uniform of this country – in places other than their home towns tonight…I know what it is like.  I, along with my brother and many of my friends, spent more than one Christmas far away from home under less than “ideal” conditions.

It’s funny,  but back then I never really thought about it as a “sacrifice,” rather – a part of the job I had signed up for and was proud to do.

Now that I am older and have a family of my own I understand that it is a sacrifice for them and their families.

So say a prayer tonight for our service men and women, standing guard and making sure we can celebrate this joyous occasion in PEACE.

That’s what it takes to be a hero, a little gem of innocence inside you that makes you want to believe that there still exists a right and wrong, that decency will somehow triumph in the end.

US Navy Seal cleared over attack on ‘Blackwater killer’

Petty Officer Julio Huertas, 28, was found not guilty of dereliction of duty and attempting to influence the testimony of another service member.

That it even went this far is a travesty.  Political Correctness is a mental disease.

I guess now, the command will be “Fix Chainsaws!” or “Fix Zombie-choppers!”  Probably don’t need door-breaching shotguns anymore either…

Quote of The Day

March 1, 2010

From Geobent via KisP

“Last week due to record snow fall Washington DC shut down every federal office. Every city office closed for ten day, but a group of men who understand duty saw to it that they did not abandon their charge.

Who were they?  Look below the fold…
